By Julius Lester
REVIEW:
A beautifully written story about the story that each of us has to tell and are. Many things contribute to our story, race being one of them? Somewhere along the line, people started telling untrue stories that “My race is better than your race.” Lester challenges young readers, probably best elementary age, to tell the true story that if we go beneath our skin we ultimately all look the same. And when we get to this truth, we can get to know everything about someone and their story. A great book for a parent to read alongside their child and experience together.
